  • Digital Broadcast Media Studio – Infrastructure Transformation (WSMAD)

    This aimed to update the broadcast media studios to a professional industry standard. This will strengthen the students’ employability and career paths. It addressed hardware, software and digital infrastructure.

  • Widening Access to Mentoring for Disabled Students (PS) (PS)

    This provided specialist mentoring to all disabled students (in particular those not eligible for the Disabled Students Allowance), enabling them to remain studying and achieve their full potential.

  • Working Cultures and Changing Lives Programmes (PS)

    This intended to substantially expand the quantity and quality of outward mobility opportunities for students from across the University. This was delivered in partnership with the global alumni community and partners. One strand enabled participation in international visits, the other involved volunteering opportunities abroad.

    This was an itinerant learning collaboration involving undergraduate and postgraduate students form Architecture and Planning courses, working in different overseas geographical contexts, and in collaboration with overseas Universities.

    This, and the subsequent 3 projects, offered both postgraduate and undergraduate students fully funded national and international field trips. These trips offer unique learning opportunities outside the classroom, enhance learning from the curriculum and develop new skills to enhance employability.

  • Annual Marylebone Campus Pavilion (temporary) (FABE)

    This was a multi-disciplinary project in which architectural students designed and built an innovative tensile structure on the Marylebone campus. This included making the structural parts in the fabrication laboratory, and provided the students with a real-life experience.

  • Fab Fest 2018 (FABE)

    This built on the success of two previous Fab Fest events and marked the transition to becoming a self-funding event. It involved 35 pavilions built by University students, international student teams and professional partners, using a range of fabrication methods. This enhanced the students’ practical understanding of the curriculum in general.

  • Architectural Robotics Masterclasses

    This built on the recent investment in the Fabrication Lab and the unique industrial robot. Student were offered accelerated learning in this area through the provision of a series of masterclasses run by world experts. This culminated in a public performance.

  • The Democratic Education Network (FSSH)

    This was further funding to support a network which brought together students and local community groups and international communities in relation to democracy. This expanded the students’ engagement and understanding.

  • Professional Practice in Entrepreneurship (WBS) (FSSH)

    This was a multi-faceted project to build a community and integrated platform to support students in skills and practice to achieve entrepreneurial success. It included a range of research, staff training, events, links to employers and student activities.

  • Modernisation of the Photography Studios(WSMAD)

    This project provided the resources to update the photography studios to state-of -the-art professional industry standards. This enhanced the student learning experience and increased their employability skills.

  • Mentoring Scheme Coordinators (PS)

    This provided funds to appoint two University graduates to posts to coordinate, and significantly expand, the mentoring scheme. This scheme links students to employment-based mentors to develop their employability skills. There was a particular focus on widening participation of less advantaged students.

  • PhD Studentship to Consolidate Research in Westminster Centre for Resilience (PS)

    This was a research project.to be undertaken by a PhD student which undertook a qualitative exploration of GP burnout. This provided a student with the opportunity to take a higher degree, and added to the understanding of a wider group of students and researchers.

  • UoW Response to UK Taskforce (PS)

    This was a University-wide project based on the UUK Taskforce examining violence against women, harassment and hate crime. In collaboration with an external programme, involving staff and student training, it is the first UK HEI to develop, deliver and evaluate a bystander intervention programme.

  • Residential (SU)

    The Students Union provided weekend residential training for its leaders. This ensures the leaders understood the Union’s values and gave them the skills to succeed in their roles.

  • BIS Challenge and Industry Visits (FST)

    This funded extra-curricular international industry visits for Business Information Systems students. The employers set challenges for the students. These students otherwise might not otherwise get the chance to travel, and this broadened their experience and learning.

  • EnAbled – Educational Network Amplifying Learning Experience (FST)

    This project significantly enlarged computing students’ independent learning outside the classroom. Web-based profiling techniques enabled the students to reflect on their individual learning strategies and to enhance their learning approaches.

  • The Voice of Children and Young People in Decisions Affecting their Lives (FSSH)

    This project involved a number of 16/17 year old school pupils, within a structured framework, facilitated by the Law School, to hear, articulate and guide those areas of law and social policy which impact on their lives. The outcomes were widely disseminated.

  • Creative Practice and Holistic Leaning - a Toolkit for Students (WSMAD)

    This was a School-wide pilot project to create a new educational model which used making as a catalyst for reflection, experience and research. It involved workshops and the development of a toolkit which provides ongoing support for student learning.

  • Tech Girl (WSMAD)

    This addressed the assumed gendered approach to technology in music and will ensure that the female students get a full range of opportunities in study and work experience. It also extended this, by student interventions with female school pupils.
