  • Field Trip Fund (University wide)

    This provided direct support to 2500 students, from across the University, to attend curriculum related international fieldtrips. Over 78 trips took place.

  • Expansion and Continuation of the CDC Mentoring Scheme (PS)

    This expanded the previously QHT-funded mentoring scheme which connects students to employers who act as mentors. This both enhances the students’ learning experiences, and promotes employability.

  • Building Sustainability Capacity for Digital Teaching, Learning and Co-creation Across the University (PS)

    This established a University-wide infrastructure to support collaborative, digitally facilitated, learning. This included refurbishment of classrooms, and the installation of technology to link with the students’ own devices.

  • Enhanced Reality Lab (FST)

    This established an Enhanced Reality Lab (now called the Extended Reality Lab.) as a centre of excellence in virtual and augmented reality. This makes cutting edge technology available to a wide range of students from computing and construction courses.

  • The Health Innovation Ecosystem (FST)

    The vision is for the Health Innovation Ecosystem to become a hub for world-leading research, student engagement and academic enterprise in health and wellbeing. This builds on a track record of innovation and partnership in this area and will involve collaboration with a wide range of external partners.

  • The Student Law Clinic Expansion (FSSH)

    This funding enhanced the already existing and successful Law Clinic, where students offer free legal advice to the public. It expanded the number of professional supervisors and administrative support so student and public participation increases, and ensuring wider dissemination of the outcomes.

  • Computational Journalism (WSMAD)

    This was designed to expand the provision in Mobile, Multimedia, Visual and Computational Journalism, so as to enhance the student experience and learning. This was achieved through acquiring a range of state-of-the-art equipment and software, the provision specialised technical support and the development of innovative learning approaches.

  • “Your Potential Your Success” (University wide)

    This built on a previous pilot project, working with the training provider Grit (formerly know as “Youth at Risk”). It aimed to establish a culture of aspiration, success and excellence through changing the mindsets of both students and staff, and increasing student confidence and resilience.

  • Living Expenses Support Scheme (PS)

    This continued previously funded work to provide support to students who are suffering financial difficulty with their living and studying expenses. This enables them to continue to study effectively. There was an emphasis on Care Leavers and estranged students.

    This created a professional standard library of innovative construction materials and models of contemporary building systems. This is open to all students, to enhance their learning, and to paying professionals. It was accompanied by an online catalogue, a series of workshops and an exhibition will build connections with Industry.

  • Realising Sustainability: Building Environmental Awareness into an Enhanced Student Experience (FABE)

    This helped students to learn about the complexity of energy use in buildings by using data from the University’s building control system, and from sensors worn by students on the campus, as a teaching tool. It collaborated with the University Estates team and partners from Industry.

  • Student and Graduate-led Relaunch “Supercrit” Event Series Publications (FABE)

    This revived a series of “Supercrits”, events where world-famous architects presented their work to a panel of students, eminent peers, and expert critics. Held in the award-winning P3 University venue these generate enthusiastic student participation, press coverage and publications.

  • First UoW-WIUT Student and Staff Research Conference (FST)

    This supported a conference in Tashkent involving staff and students from the University and the sister Westminster International University in Tashkent, involving staff and students of computing degrees, in order to exchange research ideas.

  • The Development of Students’ Critical Analysis Skills through Peer Review (FSSH)

    This established small interdisciplinary student peer groups. These, under tutorial guidance, assisted a diverse group of students in developing higher critical analysis and writing skills, with an emphasis on their final year research dissertations.

  • 125 Fund (PS)

    The 125 fund is a provision whereby individual students can apply for small grants to undertake activities, or buy equipment, which will enhance their studies. The funds given by QHT are matched by other sponsors.

  • Chiswick Feasibility Study (SU)

    This analysed the current use of the sports facilities at Chiswick, by the student population, and made recommendations for its future use and development.

  • Enhancing Facilities and Equipment for Smoke Media (SU)

    This provided a revitalised workspace equipped with new industry standard equipment. This enhanced the Smoke media provision (radio and student journalism), engaged more students and gave actively participating students important experience to enhance their employability.

  • Harrow Sports Hall Basketball Hoops (SU)

    The provision of new basketball hoops and the associated winch system in the Harrow Sports Hall to enable a more extensive use of the facilities.
